PACE Launches Gap Analysis Phase to Support Cancer Prevention in Prison Settings

16 Mar

The PACE project has officially launched the Gap Analysis phase (WP5), led by the Cyprus National Addictions Authority with the support of the National Administration of Penitentiaries Romania (NPA-Romania). This marks an important step towards the future implementation of cancer-preventive interventions in prison settings across Europe.

Across the participating countries — Italy, Cyprus, France, Greece, Portugal, Moldova and Romania — partners will:

▪ assess existing immunisation and screening programs in prisons related to HPV and viral hepatitis
▪ identify gaps, barriers and opportunities for improvement
▪ engage national and local stakeholders to prioritise context-specific solutions.

The findings of the Gap Analysis will help partners better understand current practices and challenges within different prison systems and support the identification of areas where action is most needed.

The overall objective is to adapt proven good practices into pathfinder approaches that respond to local realities and are feasible, sustainable and scalable, ultimately contributing to improved access to prevention and health equity in prison settings across Europe.
